Supplier Development Manager

Hiab is looking for an experienced manager with strong hands on experience of continuous improvements within manufacturing, to lead, strengthen and develop the newly formed strategic supplier development team, capabilities and activities with our strategic suppliers.


The Supplier Development Manager is responsible to identify and drive continuous improvements with assigned suppliers, simultaneously securing that the organization stays aligned with business needs to maximize value generation in germs of sustainable supplier performance in sustainability, quality, capacity and scalability, on time deliveries, total cost and innovation to all our sites.

Main Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Actively lead, manage and support the strategic supplier development team in close cooperation with strategic sourcing, business line sourcing.
  • Taking lead in building our supplier excellence development program
  • In collaboration with strategic sourcing and the supplier development leadership, develop targets, performance management (KPIs), and governance structure.
  • Actively participating in redefining the supplier development strategy for North American facilities and supply base.
  • Based on the strategy establish a business plan in close cooperation with strategic sourcing and the supplier development leadership team  to achieve expected results with identified key activities and projects.
  • Lead and secure application of continuous improvement methodologies and strategies to drive value creation in order to support business needs.
  • Drive, develop and report progress of continuous improvement projects, business plan and targets
  • Continuously contribute in cross-functional teams to improve sustainability, quality, delivery, total cost of acquisition and innovation.
  • Secure that supplier development is acting as the suppliers voice into Hiab, taking their interests into consideration and working towards increased collaboration and long-term partnerships.
  • Continuously communicate, report and perform monthly reviews of supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsibility for manufacturing partners in terms of:
    • Identify and execute necessary development activities.
    • Initiate, lead and follow up continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.
    • Manage and follow up assigned development projects.
  • Drive supplier capacity audits, reviews and be in control of suppliers scalability.
  • Analyse the need of process development and investments.
  • Analyse production set up and methods to identify waste and cost improvement potentials. 
  • Structured problem solving together with supplier in assigned cases
  • Facilitate and execute supplier-training programs.
  • Support new manufacturing technology development projects.


What you’ll need to succeed:

  • University degree within engineering, manufacturing or supply chain, or several years of experience from a similar position
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leading manufacturing role within engineering, manufacturing or supply chain quality, preferable in a global, cross cultural environment
  • Minimum of a 5 years of proven experience from continuous improvement in manufacturing or engineering positions within industrial manufacturing, in combination with strong understanding of product development
  • Excellent understanding and hands on experience of continuous improvement methodologies and tools
  • Experience of building up manufacturing processes, new product implementations
  • Strong engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, project management skills
  • Hands on experience of successful application of six sigma and lean tools
  • Knowledge in effective production methods, cost calculations and analysis
  • Experience in calculations of material consumption and value add
  • Proven ability to work effectively in matrix organization and ability to manage and influence others
  • Experience of communication with diverse cultures and nationalities
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken)
  • Positive attitude and good ability to plan, drive and execute without guidance.
