Supplier Development Engineer

Hiab is looking for experienced people with strong and hands on experience of continuous improvements to strengthen and support the growth in strategic supplier relationships and to drive continuous improvement at our suppliers.

Focus areas are to build trust and transparency, improve productivity, quality, capacity, delivery and innovation in order to generate additional business value and benefits by reduction of total costs.

Main Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Own the supplier performance within the category of nominated suppliers using QDCI balanced scorecard to monitor and improve performance of agreed metrics.
  • Support new product development to assure fulfillment of technical requirements, quality and delivery assurance deliverables. 
  • Responsibility for manufacturing partners in steel structures, cylinders or electronics and hydraulics 
  • Identify and execute necessary development activities with new and existing suppliers.  
  • Initiate, lead and follow up continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives together with assigned suppliers.  
  • Manage and follow up assigned development projects with assigned suppliers. 
  • Drive supplier capacity audits, reviews and be in control of suppliers scalability 
  • Analyse production set up and methods at supplier to identify waste and cost improvement potentials.  
  • Structured problem solving together with supplier in assigned cases
  • Facilitate and execute supplier-training programs.
  • Continuously communicate and report status and progress on activities and initiatives, and drive actions to recover if progress is deviating from plan.
  • Develop a network of stakeholders and experts to enable an agile and flexible organisation to leverage supplier collaboration, performance and long-term relationship to ease speed and implementation of improvement ideas, actions and activities with supplier

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • 5-10 years of experience in supplier development, supplier quality,supply chain management, and/or manufacturing/process engineering in a component manufacturing company with a strong quality mindset.
  • Knowledge and proven ability to apply lean philosophy to improve processes and systems to improve quality, delivery, capacity to reduce cost and increase profitability and customer value.
  • Experience from continuous improvement, product development, engineering or manufacturing positions within industrial manufacturing
  • Experience of capacity planning and supply chain management
  • Experience of root cause analyses and problem solving methodology like six sigma or similar. Six Sigma black belt (preferred)
  • High level and experience of communication with diverse cultures and nationalities.
  • Project management skills. 
  • Good understanding of product development
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken).
  • Positive attitude and good ability to plan, drive and execute without guidance. You also have experience working in cross-functional and cross cultural teams.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, supplier change leadership and management with process focus
  • Strong people management and influencing skills and experience
  • International Welding engineer (preferred for steel structures
