Planning Manager, Truck Mounted Forklift (TMFL)

Purpose of the position

 

The Planning Manager is responsible for managing and directing materials and production planning personnel in the receipt and inventory of material to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders while maintaining assigned inventory levels. Manages key materials-related functions such as materials planning, scheduling, and ordering activities associated with the delivery of specific customer products. The Planning manager is expected to train and educate direct reports and peers on the use of various business systems, varieties of reports, and other related tools to ensure timely and economical completion of customer and business requirements.

 

  • Design and execution of planning strategic vision
  • Manage material planning team
  • Manage direct material supply chain to ensure production schedule attainment
  • Expedite material as appropriate
  • Owner of configuration for ERP planning and item parameters
  • ERP “super user” for planning
  • Owner of forecast and planning bills of material
  • Drive supplier management (VMI, lean, etc.)
     

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

Safety 

 

  • Adhering to health and safety practices per business guidelines

 

Quality 

 

  • Achievement of objectives in the field of quality of manufactured products
  • Ensuring quality standards and improvement targets are met and maintained

 

Delivery

 

  • Design and execution of planning strategic vision
  • Own and drive S&OP process
  • Manage both supplier capacity and operational capacity – both tactical and strategic
  • Manage current and future demand requirements with assembly and supplier capabilities/capacities to ensure completion of customer requirements
  • Ensures required documentation and/or system transactions are executed to allocate, purchase, internally manufacture or reschedule material as required
  • In conjunction with material planners, schedules and manages the flow of work within or between assembly departments based on customer orders, established priorities, and ability or capability of workers, parts, materials, and equipment
  • Assists in expediting material, where required, to meet shortfall between current plan and customer order requirements
  • Analyzes data, including enterprise requirements planning information and prepares consolidated managerial reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure plant/product line optimal supply chain execution
  • Ensures correct planning parameters are utilized and updated on a regular basis within ERP to ensure proper purchases and inventory levels
  • Analyzes and manages aggregate inventory levels in relation to customer requirements to meet business inventory KPI’s

What you’ll need to succeed

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering or Logistics, preferred
  • APICS Certification, preferred
     

Working experience:

 

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in materials/ planning management within a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a leader of people


Skills and competencies:

 

  • Strong IT knowledge and skills including Advanced Google skills
  • High degree of knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain Management and managing MRP systems
  • Strong Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple conflicting demands
  • Good communication with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally & externally
  • Problem solver, excellent analytically, decision make and strategic thinker
  • Project Management skills
  • Warehouse and logistics management
  • Results Oriented and organized with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines
