Purpose of the position

 

A material handler maintains production and distribution of product by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies, staging finished products and making the necessary inventory transactions in the ERP/MES systems.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Maintains neat and organized inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory
  • Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production/warehouse orders
  • Load and unload material onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or material handling equipment
  • Utilize hand held scanner to pull production materials and supplies according to picklists, record quantities and deliver to specified locations throughout the facility
  • Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; making operator repairs
  • Utilizes appropriate material handling equipment to move materials, load and unload trucks
  • Completes cycle counting, as directed by the inventory policy
  • Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need to succeed

 

Education:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required

 

Working experience:

 

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred

 

Skills and competencies:

 

  • Familiarity with inventory control
  • Good understanding of quality control principles
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must be able to stand or sit for extended lengths of time
  • Must have good eyesight, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to differentiate between colors
  • Must be able to safely and successfully perform all the essential job functions, as listed within this document, consistent with ADA, FMLA, OSHA and any other applicable federal, state and local governmental standards, including meeting Waltco qualitative and quantitative productivity and quality standards
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to read English and comprehend what they have read in work instructions and JSA's
  • Must be able to speak, understand and write in English
