Manufacturing Engineer

Compensation Data

 

 

Salary starts from $85,000 per year based on skills and experience.

Purpose of the position

 

 

  • Sustain and develop technical aspects in the value stream, drive productivity and continuous improvement activities across the value stream
  • Be a passionate Change Agent that advocates for world class practices across operational functions
  • Be process oriented, customer focused and operator centered
  • Own, lead and/or drive team oriented Kaizen events/activities across value stream
  • Assist in design and optimization of assembly line layouts and logistical flow of materials
  • Devise and implement new manufacturing engineering techniques
  • Design, develop and implement tooling for the value stream

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

 

Safety

  • Adhering to health and safety practices per business guidelines

Quality

  • Define standard work and standard operating procedures, support team to create and update new SOP’s
  • In conjunction with production management, interface with the Quality department for purpose of developing permanent corrective actions to all issues within the value stream
  • Implement quality related improvements within value stream (poka-yoke, featuring & tolling, etc.,)
  • Assist with development of standard work instructions across assembly lines

Delivery

  • Facilitate cell/line design and layouts within value stream
  • Work with value stream manager, supervisors and leads to develop the support structure required surrounding information flow along with systems and process reviews
  • Assist, lead, manage and direct continuous improvement efforts across value stream to increase productivity
  • Enhance visual management concepts within all areas of value stream
  • Provide training on new methods to value stream teams
  • Assist with implementation of Hiab Business System within assembly areas
  • Lead and/or assist in tracking production downtime data
  • Ensures required documentation and/or system transactions are executed to allocate, purchase, internally manufacture or reschedule material as required
  • Develop and optimize assembly line layouts

What you’ll need to succeed

 

 

Education:

  • High School diploma/equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering or Logistics preferred
  • APICS Certification preferred
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in materials/ planning management within a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a leader of people

Skills and competencies:

  • Strong IT knowledge and skills including Advanced Google skills
  • High degree of knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain Management and managing MRP systems
  • Strong Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple conflicting demands
  • Good communication with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally & externally
  • Problem solver, excellent analytically, decision make and strategic thinker
  • Project Management skills
  • Results Oriented and organized with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines
