Supplier Development Manager

We are looking for Supplier Development Manager to be part of the global supplier development, and in conjunction with global category and division sourcing with strong and hands-on experience of continuous improvements to strengthen and support the growth in supplier relationships. You will be building trust and transparency with suppliers to improve productivity, quality, capacity, delivery and innovation in order to generate additional business value and benefits by reduction of total costs.
 

Main tasks and responsibilities:

 

  • Contributing in building our supplier excellence development program
  • Support category and division sourcing by leading continuous improvements with assigned suppliers and manufacturing partners in one of our main categories (steel structures, cylinders, electronics, hydraulics, contract manufacturing)
  • Identify and execute necessary development activities with new and existing suppliers
  • Manage and follow up continuous improvement initiatives with assigned suppliers
  • Analyse the need of process development and investments at suppliers
  • Analyse production set up and methods at suppliers to identify waste and cost improvement potentials
  • Development of suppliers processes, and Hiabs interfacing processes
  • Structured problem solving together with supplier in assigned cases
  • Facilitate and execute supplier-training programs
  • Support new manufacturing &  technology development projects
  • Develop and execute trainings within continuous improvements (People, process, tools)
  • Continuously communicate and report status and progress on activities and initiatives, incl agreed metrics, and drive root cause and corrective actions to recover if progress is deviating from plan
  • Develop a network of stakeholders and experts to enable an agile and flexible organisation to leverage supplier collaboration, performance and long-term relationships to ease speed and implementation of improvement ideas, actions and activities with suppliers.

What you’ll need to succeed:

 

  • University degree in Engineering (or similar gained by experience) 
  • In order to be successful in this position we believe you fulfil the following criteria: 
  • Several years of proven experience from continuous improvement or manufacturing positions within industrial manufacturing, in combination with strong understanding of product development
  • Manufacturing process knowledge  in one of the following: steel structures, hydraulic cylinders or electronics & hydraulics
  • Experience of building up manufacturing processes, new product implementations
  • Knowledge and experience of ERP (production) systems
  • Detailed product knowledge of steel structure components and welding, hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic valves, electronics.
  • Proven experience of successful application of Lean tools
  • Experience of application of problem solving methods and tools (Six Sigma or similar)
  • Knowledge and experience in effective production methods and  cost calculation and analyses
  • Experience and knowledge in material consumption and value add calculation
  • Highly beneficial with experience and competencies in engineering, quality, commercial and/or logistic/supply chain
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken)
  • You have a positive attitude and good ability to plan, drive and execute without guidance. You also have experience working in cross-functional and cross cultural teams
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong influencing skills and experience in people management
  • Strong coaching skills in order to develop people
  • Superior communication skills – Oral, written and formal presentation skills towards stakeholders and senior management
  • Project management skills
  • The position requires extensive travelling and preferable location will be in one of our main locations in Europe.
