Currently we are looking for an experienced and self-motivated Product Cost Engineer to join our team.
Purpose of the position
- Generating and maintaining a DtC pipeline (Design to Cost) for NPD (New Product Development) and PLC (Product Lifetime Care):
- Cost saving opportunity identification - supporting to achieve set cost target
- Cost saving opportunity execution - in alignment with broader R&D team and coordination across functions - Documenting processes and ways of working
Main tasks and responsibilities
Key accountabilities:
1. Cost saving opportunity identification (40%)
● Conduct products cost analysis throughout the development process
● Prepare cost estimates, generate detailed cost reports, and assess outliers
● Collaborate with key stakeholders across functions
● Evaluate and recommend additional cost reduction strategies
● Develop, maintain, and execute a 2-year roadmap for DtC initiatives (e.g. benchmarking workshops)
● Facilitate prioritization of savings initiatives through the PLC forum
2. Cost saving opportunity execution (50%)
● Reduce product cost while upholding product performance, safety and quality, i e maintain customer value
● Ensure clear ownership and coordination of DtC activities
● Track and report progress of DtC execution , inform PM (Product Management), and align Sievo reporting with sourcing
● Facilitate the collaboration with key stakeholders, ensuring execution of relevant DtC activities Documenting processes and ways of working (10%)
● Contribute to cost monitoring, reporting, and system-related procedures
● Establish / Codify key DtC processes
Key interactions:
- Internal: Product Management, other colleagues within R&D, Production, Sales, Sourcing, SD (Supplier Development engineers), Service (compatibility)
- External: Contractors, Customers, Universities, Suppliers
What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering
- Further studies in DtC an advantage
Experience:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in engineering
- 5 years mechanical engineering experience or equivalent background
- Knowledge of production processes specific to the machine industry
- Knowledge of DtC methodologies
- Competent in mechanical engineering calculations and analysis
- Understanding of PDM systems and working within a controlled environment
- Understanding of engine, drivetrain, hydraulic and electrical components and systems related to mobile equipment would be beneficial
- Project management in an international matrix organization is an advantage
Competencies:
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with various stakeholders within an international matrix organization
- Ability to lead and implement change with a hands-on mentality
- Ability to use 3D CAD Pro E, Creo
- Mechanical design
- DFMEA and other Lean 6S quality assurance methodologies
- Strong communication skills in English
