We are looking for an experienced HR Director to join our journey and act as a strategic business partner for Hiab in North America.  


The HR Director  will be a member of the Sales & Services North America leadership team and the Hiab HR leadership team. He/she will support the Hiab frontline unit and divisions in North America. This is a unique opportunity to implement people strategy and support the growth and development of the business. As a trusted partner and key player, the HR Director leads the strategic design, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-impact HR and “Employees First” related initiatives. The HR Director will develop, manage, and implement forward-thinking strategic actions and projects and support the company's growth whilst ensuring that the HR network supports the business goals in North Americas. The position will ideally be based in Perrysburg, Ohio, and will require travelling. The position will report to the VP, Sales & Services NAM and to VP, Human Resources Hiab.

Main tasks and responsibilities:


  • Manage and coordinate the people topics in business related Change Management activities
  • Drive the “Employees First” culture together with the leadership team to improve employee engagement
  • Define the people strategy and related competence development activities 
  • Define, create and implement incentives to support growth 
  • Work on the organization model from productivity point of view, harmonize roles and responsibilities as part of process and blueprint harmonization 
  • Implement global Cargotec HR processes and policies within the division (performance and development planning, talent review, salary review, target setting and bonus processes)
  • Act as a sounding board for the NAM Sales & Service head and leadership team members on all people related matters
  • Give support to line managers in various HR tasks, communicate to employees on Hiab people practices and work together with the country HR colleagues

In order to be truly successful on this role, you would ideally have:

  • Master’s level degree
  • More than 7 years of relevant experience as an HR Business Partner, line HR or similar
  • Strong knowledge and experience of all key HR processes
  • Experience of a leadership role in a multicultural environment
  • Genuine interest in understanding the business beyond the surface
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, good negotiations skills
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization and to build networks
  • Systematic working style
  • Willingness to travel both locally and internationally.
