Technical Support Engineer

Purpose of the position

Purpose:

  • Subject matter expert in the Technical and Product Support domain at the Frontline Unit level, including oversight of quality requirements and standards
  • Leads and executes customer requirements for product documentation, warranty assessment and end-to-end quality oversight.
  • Acting as a liaison between the Service and Sales Teams, thus ensuring the technical aspects of business proposals submitted to Clients meet the highest technical standards with focus on quality, safety and reliability of applications offered by HIAB.
  • Coordinate and supervise the bodybuilding and installation processes using both internal resources and subcontractors.

Key accountabilities:

  • Participate in new product development (NPD) and product lifetime care (PLC) projects for existing products.
  • Ensure that the voice of the customer is included into the product and application design. Aim to reduce warranty cost based on warranty claim data and increase field reliability of the products and solutions.
  • Continuous review and monitoring of warranty claim statistics designing actions and programs for corrective actions and product quality improvement.
  • Ensure HIAB standards and methods of repair and maintenance are implemented at the FLU level (Troubleshooting guidelines, Technical Feedback repository system).
  • Perform Technical Brush-up, updating the worldwide service network about the latest product developments.
  • Develop methods for measuring technical resolution performances, its quality and escalation rules.
  • Monitor the Service Bulletins, service letter resolution time
  • Provide support for service organization and customers: technical service, technical information, special technical surveys.

What you’ll need to succeed

Education: 

  • Preferable mechanical engineering degree
  • Technical/ Hydraulic/ Mechanical and electrical knowledge preferred

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience of technical support in the similar industry (on-road load handling applications, design and build)
  • Previous experience from an international business environment in a matrix organization

Competencies:

  • Strong technical knowledge
  • Good IT skills (Google, Microsoft, CAD engineering tools AutoCAD, Solid Works)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Be confident and comfortable with other departments and stakeholders
  • Subject matter expert in cargo vehicles application engineering domain
  • Good understanding of technical requirements (EU machinery directive and harmonized industrial standards) and formal/legal requirements of design and engineering of integrated on-road load handling solutions.
