Workshop Supervisor - Service and Repair

Purpose of the position

  • Provide Leadership to the Victorian Service (Maintenance) operations – Workshop  Field 
  • Implementing best practices to ensure all areas are run in an efficient and Safe manner
  • Contribute to the financial performance of the operation, supporting revenue generation and seeking efficiencies to improve service profitability
  • Utilise and Promote Hiab systems for yourself and your team (SAP, SMS etc.) 
  • Provide a high level of Customer Service, including maintaining high standards for quality of work, timely and effective communication and managing escalations
  • Work closely with Service administration to ensure staff workload is managed and administrative tasks are up to date – inclusive of quotations, billing requests, time sheets, WIP etc..
  • Manage staff, Day to day leadership, Tool Box meetings, Utilisation, PDP reviews, first level tech support, training and development

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S)

  • Lead and Promote a Safe Work culture
  • Maintain Positive housekeeping practices
  • Ensure a safe working environment at all times, applying best practices and company policy
  • Comply with the policies and procedures in accordance with the law
  • Address any non-compliance with immediate action
  • Coordinate all OH&S activities for areas under your control
  • Active member in the National safety committee
  • Participate in regular Walk arounds/inspections
  • Actively identify hazards/unsafe acts – taking action as required

Leadership

  • Training and development of team
  • Day to day leadership of Hiab Vic Maintenance employees (Field and Workshop technicians)
  • Weekly Tool Box meetings
  • Managing HR topics directly or in conjunction with management support services

Financial

  • Responsible for taking actions to achieve revenue targets
  • Responsible for monitoring costs and taking appropriate actions to ensure sustainable OP
  • Responsible for meeting Utilisation targets for team
  • Monitor and manage WIP (work in progress), aligning service forecasts to budget
  • Closely monitor and manage overtime for staff 
  • Implement a process to ensure Quotations are sent for approval on the same day as service works

Systems, Process and Administration

  • Utilise and Promote Hiab systems for yourself and your team (SAP, SMS, Jira safety management, Learn, etc.) 
  • Work closely with Service administration to ensure staff workload is managed and administrative tasks are up to date – inclusive of quotations, billing requests, time sheets, WIP etc.. (medium term aim – paperless)
  • Work within Hiab Systems and Policies at all times
  • Management reporting – as required
  • Manage all activities in accordance with Hiab Policy, Australian Standards and Local/Federal laws

Customer service

  • Strong interpersonal skills (ability to deal with internal and external stakeholders)
  • Document customer issues including resolution
  • Demonstrate personal ownership for tasks and following through
  • Quality of work – employ high standards and work practices to ensure rework and warranty are minimized
  • Communicate appropriately
  • Provide a customer escalation point

Compliance

  • Manage all state activities in accordance with Hiab Policy (local & global), Australian Standards, Local and Federal laws
  • Identify any risk or exposure to the business with communication to management
  • Work with multiple systems including SAP, FSM, Qlikview, Qliksence, Salesforce
     

What you’ll need to succeed:

Education

  • High School certificate - preferred
  • Trade certificate

Experience

  • 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Legislative compliance and quality control
  • Leadership and development

Skills & Knowledge

  • Maintain technical knowledge of load handling products and industry best practice
  • Understanding of hydraulic and electrical circuits
  • Understanding of quality control and application
  • Understanding of national and local legislation and application
  • Leadership
  • Customer relationship skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office/Google skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Proven ability to effectively and productively work within a marketing driven organisation
  • Sound communication skills (written and verbal)
