Service Technician

Purpose of the position
We are currently looking for a number of workshop based technicians for our sites in Dandenong and Brooklyn to support our extensive product range and customer base. An automotive, plant or fabrication background, preferably in heavy vehicle maintenance is desired, but not essential. Hydraulic and/or electrical experience would be highly regarded. All applications will be considered.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Care & Maintenance of Service Vehicles
- Ensure arrival to site is on time
- Assist with finishing jobs, on time, to the Hiab standard
- Maintain continual compliance with OH & S requirements of Industry Standards
- Address any non-compliance with immediate action
- Report any incidences of non-compliance to relevant manager
- Communicate reports to customers in a professional manner
- Well-presented appearance including overalls and work wear
- Supervising apprentices working on jobs
- Showing and guiding apprentices in good work practices / safe work practices.
- Being able to fault find unsupervised
- To be able to test & understand hydraulic & electrical circuits
- To be able to strip & rebuild mechanical components e.g. winch
What you’ll need to succeed
- Formal trade qualification (vehicle mechanic, heavy vehicle mechanic, diesel mechanic, Fitter & or Turner)
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Experience working unsupervised
- Experience in the mechanical handling, port or industrial operations industry sector
- Customer relationship skills
- Customer service skills
- Good computer skills
- Effective time management skills
- Sound analytical and numeracy skills
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent interpersonal skills (ability to deal with all stakeholders in the business)
