Purpose of the position

 

Business Operations Development has strategic responsibility for end-to-end supply chain transformation and for HIAB X, our Business System. Our Business System creates a platform for business excellence using lean six-sigma methodology. The Business System is applied to all key value zones / process domains: commercial, supply chain, transactional and new product development. 

 

The purpose of the supply chain transformation is to Implement an end-to-end supply chain operating model capable of 50% upside flexibility within a six-month horizon with the ability to deliver on financial and operational performance targets throughout the business cycle and to deliver the planned business growth. This requires step changes to the HIAB supply chain operating model and transformation of operations across the entire spectrum of Plan, Source, Make, Deliver processes, people and enabling infrastructure.
 

The Business Excellence function will be the driving force for the design, development, and implementation of the Hiab Business Excellence system utilizing lean six-sigma to design and continuously improve all core processes, the use of fact-based data driven decision-making, and the use of the 80/20 principle to prioritize projects, product portfolio, and standards & specifications. The aim of the function will be to train, mentor, coach and develop high potential colleagues in the use of the lean six-sigma methodology (driven by its own academy) to enable the business to realize 1.5% annual productivity gains. In addition, the function will consist of supply chain process excellence, innovation & commercial process excellence, and business process services platform excellence.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Lead the supply chain transformation
  • Be the chief supply chain architect and go-to person for supply chain excellence
  • Deploy a transformation methodology that achieves cross-functional process improvements across Divisions
  • Build and lead a team of cross-divisional capability specialists (master and black belts)
  • Develop and execute the supply chain transformation roadmap
  • Deploy the HIAB X business system across HIAB
  • Design, develop and deliver training curriculum for lean six-sigma 
  • Be an ambassador of our Employees First, Customers next people strategy through continuous improvement executable plans which will have a positive impact on all 3E’s: Easiness, Empowerment, and Excellence
  • Be a key contributor to improving employee engagement through the implementation of process improvements, i.e. eliminate the rework associated with our invoice billing and payables transactions which are currently 4x the number of transactions processed 1 Position/role description
  • Line management responsibility for up to 3 additional functions for continuous improvement: supply chain, commercial processes, innovation processes, and business services platforms for customer experience & HR, finance transactional support processes
  • Accountable to deliver EBIT impact that is 5x’s more than the cost of the function per annum 
  • Deliver annual improvements to the business cash conversion cycle

What you’ll need to succeed

 

Education:
 

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Finance/Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Computer Science, or a similar relevant discipline
  • Lean Six Sigma certified - Black Belt

 

Working experience:
 

  • 10+ years’ experience in leadership roles ideally in industrial equipment manufacturing or similar companies 
  • Experience in leading teams and leading through others
  • Solid supply chain expertise in designing, implementing and operating global supply chains. Ideally additional expertise in planning, sourcing, manufacturing and/or logistics functions
  • Experience with working in a multicultural, multi-language, matrix organization is an advantage
