We are now looking for a Tech Lead, Edge to support HIAB’s growing demand for remote monitoring and support services. At HIAB, we are actively seeking to make the most value out of our equipment data to our customers, partners and our internal business. To make this happen, we are now looking for  a Tech Lead, Edge that is not only having a strong interest in the world of IoT but also possesses a strong ability and willingness to collaborate and communicate with the rest of the team on the larger mission to provide real value from our Edge and cloud services. In this role you will lead the Hiab Digital Services embedded software and IoT cloud development, test and maintenance. You will be part of the team who drives our future towards our ambition to not only deliver world-class digital products and services, but also be on the forefront of Industrial IoT platform implementation. 


This role is based in Finland and will be a critical part of our IoT & data team in strong collaboration with the platform owners, product teams and our partners. 
 

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Be responsible for software and cloud architecture design, security, performance and scalability of gateways and IoT platform
  • Manage and contribute with the team to continuous improvement, development, test and maintenance to overall end-to-end Digital Product & Services backend environment
  • Lead and continuously improve the DevOps processes for HIAB current and future connectivity solutions
  • Manage and maintain firmware releases, version control  and device management topics from software and application point of view, for example activation/ commissioning/ updates, etc.
  • Manage the software and hardware test-environment and test-lab (based in Tampere). 
  • Perform hands-on testing where needed, collaborate and coordinate site testing
  • Drive quality improvement actions related to telemetry, such as performing root-cause analyses, lead critical bug fixes, etc.
  • Continuously drive improvement of testing and release practises
  • Participate, ideate and contribute actively to projects and programs related to implementation of Edge & IoT roadmap topics
  • Enhance team performance by sharing expertise in areas such as process, tools, and performance tuning

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Master’s or Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Computer Science or similar area
  • 3+ years of experience of working in the Hardware / embedded software development business area
  • Knowledge of embedded software environments in Linux OS or other real time operating systems 
  • Knowledge of Linux Embedded pc drivers with different input/outputs such as CAN-Bus messaging, MQTT ,serial, ONE WIRE, GPS, 4/5G
  • Experience of AWS IoT platform services and architecture
  • Experience from one or several machine telemetry solutions (Edge gateways, control system, M2M connectivity) fields
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies, tools and best practices, including interpretation of results
  • Experience of internal solution development and maintenance. This could be solution development, process improvement, service & support or similar
  • Be able to proactively seek solutions and propose actions and effectively communicate these to non-technical and technical stakeholders 
  • Ability and willingness to create and deliver presentation material and other documentation in an efficient, effective manner
  • Excellent team collaboration skills expected with a consistent positive, collaborative professional working relationship with peers, partners and management
  • Excellent level of written and spoken English required
