Purpose of the position
The purpose of the Refurb Technician is to provide the best customer experience by performing service (preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades and refurbishment) on equipment, at our Hiab location in line with Manager’s instructions. The Refurb Technician will be responsible for contributing to productive customer relationships as well as following Best Practice in all administrative and technical activities. Together we keep everyday life moving by unlocking the full potential of load handling in our customers’ businesses.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Contributing to the Refurbishment of Hiab parts and equipment
- Cleaning/Degreasing equipment and their components using a pressure washer
- Loading and unloading materials and equipment
- Inspect equipment for structural damage
- Repair damage to body parts and bodies of equipment
- Sand/Prep parts and equipment for paint
- Follow Hiab Customer Satisfaction Guidelines
- Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain clean environment
- Risk management
- Follow applicable safety rules, agreed working practices and environmental requirements
- Alert Manager if equipment is jeopardized due to any reason
- Respect and protect Hiab and third party’s property (tools, vehicles, facilities, equipment) and business activities
- Commercial Awareness and Cost Effectiveness
- Plan and manage personal time and resources for maximum benefit of Hiab and the customer
- Manage and protect the security and traceability of spare parts
- Provide feedback to Manager to support continuous quality improvement
- Participate in innovative thinking about ways to improve production efficiency
- Conduct self at all times in a way that promotes a positive image of the Hiab brand and follow rules of the Quality System
- And other duties, as assigned
What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
- High School diploma/equivalent required
- Technical or Secondary College preferred
Skills and competencies:
- Service and customer oriented mindset
- Staying up to date with technical developments as shown in internal service bulletins and following technical courses when instructed by Manager applicable to equipment
- Commercial Awareness and Cost Efficient way of working
- Continuous Improvement mindset
- Able to cope with stressful situations
- Capable of operating independently
- Acts responsibly in the light of prevailing circumstances
- Good hands-on skills as required for relevant mechanical, hydraulic and electronic operations
- Able to safely operate equipment
- Basic computer skills
