Supplier Quality Engineer

We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Quality & EHS team. The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for securing supplier compliance to requirements whilst building and maintaining supplier relationships to achieve disturbance free assembly. The Suplier Quality Engineer acts for timely resolution of supplier quality escalations within the Cargotec agreed framework. This position is located in Dundalk, Ireland and you will report to Quality Manager. 

 

Key performance indicators for the role are centered on supplier quality, internal manufacturing quality disruptions.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities:

 

  • Fulfilment of quality assurance deliverables in component (local category) transfers
  • Ownership of QAP (PPAP) process for Engineering Change
  • Track supplier quality performance, participate in performance reviews, and enable reporting of metrics on a monthly basis
  • Lead suppliers quality escalations (L1), drive problem solving, and issue resolution using root cause analysis tools and methodology
  • Monitor supplier recovery activities (lead in escalation L1) and secure implementation of recovery activities and plans to ensure site production/assembly requirements
  • Active participation in Product Lifetime Care
  • Liaising with the Manufacturing and Quality groups in assessing and addressing material quality Escalations (L1)
  • Support supplier escalation programmes (Q&D), drive recovery plans and resolve supplier quality/delivery issues using root cause analysis tools and methodology to ensure production requirements are secured
  • Provide regular data to support plant metric reporting and local SME for SQE procedures and processes
  • Perform process audits at suppliers to support escalation issue resolution
  • Act as liaison for Product support groups on supplier issues.

What you’ll need to succeed:

 

Ideally you have:

 

Education:

  • Relevant Engineering degree (mechanical) or relevant industrial experience

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position
  • International supplier management experience
  • Experience in using ERP systems 
  • Significant experience in quality tools like PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Control plans, 8D, Six sigma (Green Belt) and other quality tools or experience
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, Validation Programs and SPC processes
  • Experience in complex steel assemblies / hydraulic systems / electrical & electronics
