Purpose of the position

 

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for securing supplier compliance to requirements whilst building and maintaining supplier relationships to achieve disturbance free assembly.  Key performance indicators for the role are centered on supplier quality, value add activities, internal manufacturing quality disruptions and customer quality performance.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

•    Fulfilment of quality assurance deliverables in new product development and transfers (PPAP, NPD, COPQ).
•    Continuously contribute to cross functional teams to improve Quality, Delivery and Cost through the application of continuous improvements and lean philosophy.
•    Ownership of PPAP process for NPD and Engineering change.
•    Support supplier escalation programs (Q+D), drive recovery plans and resolve supplier quality/delivery issues using root cause analysis tools & methodology to ensure production requirements are secured. 
•    Act as liaison for Product support groups on supplier issues.
•    Provide regular data to support plant metric reporting and local SME for SQA procedures & processes.
•    Ownership and reporting on all quality issues associated with suppliers across a diverse commodity base.
•    Ensure all Supplier related material quality issues are effectively communicated.
•    Act as a support contact for supplier quality during external / internal audits as required.
•    Liaising with the Manufacturing and Quality groups, in assessing and addressing material quality issues.
•    Track supplier quality performance measurement (KPI’s) and participate in supplier performance reviews. Enable reporting of metrics for monthly reviews.
•    Oversight of the Approved Supplier List (ASL) in conjunction with the Sourcing function.

We expect from you

 

Education
•    Relevant Engineering Degree (Mechanical) or Equivalent industrial experience.
•    Formal audit training (ISO9001: 2015 / VDA 6.3).

 

Experience
•    Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position. 
•    International supplier management experience.
•    Experience in using ERP systems (LN.10 advantageous)
•    Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities with the ability to draw insights from data quickly and to define executable actions.
•    Significant experience in quality tools like PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Control plans, 8D, Six sigma (Green Belt) and other quality tools or experience.
•    Working knowledge of FMEA, Validation Programs and SPC processes.
•    Experience in complex steel assemblies / hydraulic systems / electrical & electronics preferred.
•    Strong communication skills. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate up/down and across different levels of the organisation.

Travel
