Software Engineer

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join Hiab’s Control Systems department. This position is responsible for new electronic / electrical development for Truck Mounted Forklifts (TMFL) including connectivity, control system applications.
This position reports to Control Systems Manager. The location of this position is Dundalk, Ireland.
 
Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop technical solutions in electrics / hydraulics – NPD & PLC applications
  • Assist with the electrical development for TMFL including harness design and component specification
  • Ensure designs are safe and rated for use in TMFL environment and signed off by suppliers
  • Document system functions and assist in the development of work instructions
  • Involved with other engineers to integrate the electronic wiring harness and its components into any new TMFL designs
  • Involved in the production of technical publications
  • Liaise with all departments to support new systems and provide support to resolve customer complaints
  • Where necessary prepare and execute testing of new and existing electrical designs. 

 

What you’ll need to succeed:
 

Education:

  • B.Sc or M.Sc in Mechanical Engineering

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in any of the following disciplines: Automation / Electrical / Electronic / Mechatronic Engineering
  • Programming tools (C, C++, CodeSys, C#, .net)
  • Familiarity with ECAD drawing package or other CAD packages
  • Simulation tools (MatLab, Simulink and Simulink extensions)

 

Competence:

  • Strong communication and reporting skills (verbal and in writing)
  • Confident at challenging the status quo and open to adapting new technologies or techniques
  • Ability to analyse problems and derive solutions
  • Ability to manage project requirements and schedules
  • Project management experience an advantage 
  • Work as necessary in the Production environment and assist with TMF commissioning
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required and meet customers and suppliers.
