Material planner

Purpose of the position

 

  • Responsible for availability of components for the production of Truck Mounted Forklift
  • Manage inventories and ensure that material resources are consistent with production schedules
  • Promote high levels of product availability and internal customer satisfaction, optimal inventory levels and minimal obsolescence
  • Ensure the appropriate supply of cost-efficient and high-quality materials required to maintain steady production and product delivery

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Responsible for running functional reports and providing rolling forecasts to suppliers
  • Determining the required materials and generating replenishment plan 
  • Manage and maintain optimal lot size technique, safety stock and other planning parameters
  • Managing inventory issues, schedule changes, and cancellations
  • Drive inventory and cash flow objectives in line with corporate goals
  • Minimise inventory obsolescence and identify and manage cost drivers
  • Effective Back-order/shortage reporting and root cause analysis
  • Support sourcing activities to drive material cost improvements and availability
  • Product Life cycle management – NPI and EOL
  • Responsible for accurate and timely reporting to Supply management on stretched performance metrics to drive continuous business improvements
  • Identify process improvements throughout supply chain
  • Participate in Monthly Supplier Operational Meeting & updating Score card

What you’ll need to succeed

 

  • Degree in business, logistics, inventory management, or a related field preferred
  • At least 3 years of relevant business / product experience
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management
  • Commercial or Technical background
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Lean/Six Sigma experience would be advantageous 
  • Excellent communication skills, strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Change Management
  • Proficient MS packages especially  Advanced MS Excel & Google Suite
