Lead Development Operations Engineer, Digital Solutions Hub

Digital Solutions Hub in Tampere, Finland, will focus on accelerating the launch of new digital and data-driven services in all Cargotec business areas, Kalmar, Hiab and MacGregor. The hub will provide expertise and robust processes for the business areas and business lines to plan, design and build new digitally enabled services and products. The new digital offering will be developed using modern software development tools and methods in a systematic and focused way by a dedicated development team together with the business lines’ product managers, providing a fast track to business lines to create new revenue streams utilising opportunities enabled by digitalisation. 

We are looking for Lead Development Operations Engineer, Digital Solutions Hub to join Cargotec Corporate business.

The position holder will report to Tommi Pettersson, VP Digital Solutions Hub.  The position will be based at Cargotec office in Tampere.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

In your role as Lead DevOps Engineer you will manage and guide the operations development activities in the organization. You will be responsible for software build automation, releasing deployment processes and configuration management systems that are essential for software quality and speed of development.
You will be sharing and embracing DevOps practises, such as cross-team sharing, developing self-service, automation and infrastructure as code. Leading by example, you will be contributing to implementation of the required DevOps mechanisms within teams and guiding other internal stakeholders.

As a key member of Cargotec Digital Solutions Hub team you will actively participate in and contribute to unit’s Strategy development and implementation. The main areas of responsibilities within the job will be:

  • Creating software deployment strategies that allow DevOps engineers to successfully deploy sites/software in any environment 
  • Updating of configuration management tools, code, and modules for the purpose of streamlining implementation and supportability
  • Designing scaling strategies and develops automation scripts and solutions for the purpose of streamlining, implementing, and testing software
  • Developing self-service solutions for the organization in order to deliver software with great speed and quality
  • Following-up, monitoring industry’s best practices and trends on behalf of the organization
  • Advising and collaborating with business areas and business lines as trusted DevOps expert
  • Subcontractor network:
  • Maintain and develop subcontracting network based on agreed roadmap
  • Ensure subcontractors follow agreed processes and principles.

What you’ll need to succeed:
 Ideally you have:

  • M.Sc (eng), software engineering and several years of work experience as DevOps Engineer
  • Experience automating the managing large-scale infrastructure 
  • Significant familiarity with related configuration management and infrastructure tools, such as Ansible and AWS CloudFormation
  • Expertise in the latest AWS technologies that are commonly used to build cloud solutions and ability to automate cloud infrastructure deployments
  • Key technologies to master: AWS (EC2, IAM, Cognito, Kinesis, Lambda, Glue, ECS, Fargate, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, etc.), Linux, Docker, Jenkins.
  • Experience in using the following programming languages is required: Ansible, Python, JavaScript, Java
  • Experience in technologies related to creating web services including backend and frontend 
  • Familiarity with application development technologies, such as node.js, Tomcat, HTML5 and JavaScript frameworks, is appreciated
  • Ability to clarify development operations and software deployment strategies for others, adding details and implications to support the implementation 
  • Ability to stay abreast of industry trends and developments to make cost-effective use of new and emerging tools and technologies
  • Skills to enable collaborative agenda and fostering a genuine mutual concern for team’s success
  • Excellent communication, interaction, influencing and team skills with the ability to work efficiently with wide networks: software developers, architects, product managers and other internal stakeholders
  • Fluency in English is essential, other languages being an asset.
