Purpose of the position

Provide local operational support for the various business units and legal entities on HR issues and initiatives on a full time, 1 year contract. The Country HR Manager will act as the primary interface to the local line managers, HR Business Partners and CBS HR Services teams. This position will be based in Melbourne. 

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide local HR support to the line managers 
  • Provide advice to line managers on employee performance management and development matters
  • Manage employee relations issues and ensure compliance to company HR Policies and local regulations
  • Drive implementation of regional and global HR initiatives in country  
  • Develop, harmonize, update and implement local HR initiatives and ensure compliance with local legislation
  • Supports line managers with recruitment process (attends interviews where required)
  • Provide support to the offshore HR contact and transaction team where required

What you’ll need to succeed

The ideal candidate should be highly collaborative with ability to build trust and maintain good relations and co-operation with all key stakeholders, such as local Management teams, CBS team, local regulators and other external parties. Capable, confident, positive, committed and results oriented, he/she should be able to multi-task effectively. Some business travel may be required. 

Ideally you should have

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university
  • At least 10 years of generalist HR experience in a multi-national company 
  • Strong knowledge and experience in key HR processes
  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills, and able to manage stakeholders effectively
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills 
  • Independent worker who has the ability to work and deliver results with minimal supervision
  • Experience working in a unionised environment.
