As Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be a key driver in the design, layout and continuous improvement of our factory and production processes. You will leverage your expertise in manufacturing principles, lean methodologies, and design to optimize workflows, maximize efficiency and ensure that our production environment meets the highest standards of safety, quality and productivity.
This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material flow, equipment utilization, design and ergonomic principles.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Safety
- Ensuring all risk assessments are carried out thoroughly and maintained effectively.
- Supporting investigations on LTI, near misses and other safety incidents.
- Accountable for all safety incidents within manufacturing engineering.
- Continuously work on engineering solutions to reduce risk in the production processes.
Lead factory design and layout projects:
- Develop and implement optimal factory layouts to improve material flow using Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen and other Six Sigma tools to minimize waste, and enhance production efficiency.
- Experience in the use of DMADV and tools part, this approach is very critical to problem-solving to aid fixing the problems of tomorrow.
- Design and implement efficient workstations that prioritize ergonomics and operator safety.
- Specify and integrate new equipment and technologies to enhance production capabilities and capacity by utilising CAD, CNC, AutoCAD/Solidworks/Pro-E (Creo) to create detailed layouts, models, and simulations of the factory environment.
Optimize existing production lines:
- Analyze existing production lines to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles, such as 5S, value stream mapping, and Kaizen events, to optimize workflows and reduce waste.
- Develop and implement standardized work procedures and visual management systems to improve efficiency and quality.
- Improving productivity and optimising work processes using a data driven approach.
Drive continuous improvement:
- Support and lead root cause analysis (RCCA) initiatives to address production or quality issues.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a visual production system consistent with the Cargotec Production System.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement projects to enhance line performance, reduce downtime, and improve overall efficiency.
Provide technical expertise and support:
- Provide technical guidance and support to operations and engineering teams on manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and implement systems for monitoring and analyzing equipment performance to maximize reliability and availability.
Collaborate on new product introduction (NPI):
- Work closely with R&D and product development teams to ensure Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles are incorporated into new product designs.
- Lead the transition of new products from development to production, ensuring a smooth and efficient launch process.
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes and procedures for new products.
Collaboration and communication:
- Maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality, Operations, and Maintenance.
- Effectively communicate project updates, improvement initiatives, and technical information to stakeholders.
- Lead the training and implementation of lean manufacturing tools and concepts.

What you’ll need to succeed
Essential:
- Proficiency in CAD (Solid works, AutoCAD, Pro-E(Creo), with the ability to design and develop solutions using 3D modelling / 2D drawings.
- Proven track record on innovation, with the ability to continuously improve current processes.
- Working knowledge and understanding of mechanical, electrics/electronics, assembly work, work instructions and safe working practices.
- Ability to work on own initiative with the ability to lead others, be it individually or as a collective team to deliver Improvement targets.
- Proven track record of implementing process improvement initiatives and driving operational excellence.
- Ability to work in a highly variably product mix environment, with the ability to handle multiple tasks with high quality and timeliness standards.
- Continuously seek self-improvement through feedback and critically must have a growth, continuous improvement mindset.
- Lean Six Sigma Green belt essential.
- 5 to 7 years of industrial Manufacturing Engineering experience..
- Degree level in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering.
Desirable:
- Appetite for personal self-development continuous professional development externally.
- Experience in using ERP systems.
