Supplier development Engineer

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Manage supplier evaluation, audit program and supplier approval & rating program through robust qualification processes.
  • To take the lead and be responsible for all supplier development activities within pre-production, up to and including start of production. Maintaining, improving and continuously developing supplier’s quality and delivery performance.
  • Provide input into supplier selection and category strategy by leading the supplier evaluation.
  • To be the main supplier point of contact regarding severe technical and quality issues.
  • Work closely with Supplier Development Team Leader and Sourcing in new supplier evaluation.
  • Interface with suppliers and work closely with QEHS and Customer Quality to drive quality improvements.
  • Manages the part and processes assurance in line with project targets and timing.
  • Lead investigations to determine the root causes on material quality issues and initiate or ensure corrective and preventive action plans are developed and executed.
  • Travels domestically and internationally to evaluate the quality of supplier products assigned by Sourcing.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in response to changes and ability to work in multicultural environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with a team and with cross-functional partners.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Degree holder in Engineering
  • At least three years of experience in Supplier Development
  • Proven capability in technical problem solving and effective project management
  • Good knowledge in PPAP, APQP and QAP
  • Experience in PPAP project management
  • Experience in ISO 9001
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Understanding of quality systems and processes
  • Strong in problem solving
  • Good communication skills
  • Good in analytical and data-driven approach
  • Ability to thrive in stressful situations
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong in applying quality tools
