Description of the Role


R&D Engineer specialised in electrical/ electronic/ automation control engineering who will carry out R&D activities as part of the Bromma R&D team in Malaysia. As part of your job you will also collaborate with R&D teams in Sweden and Singapore in conducting applied research and development activities to improve and generate new products, subcomponents, features and processes for Bromma spreaders and other future products. The location of the position is Ipoh, Perak.



Key Accountabilities


  • Undertakes research, generate and conceptualise new ideas, concepts, solutions and product improvements from user, quality and cost aspects within the port & cargo handling industry
  • Developing product concepts that are innovative, high quality, cost effective and take into account stakeholders’ needs and requirements throughout the entire product development cycle
  • Apply creative and innovative thinking to provide solutions by analysing the performance and feasibility of multiple alternative concepts
  • Perform early draft design by applying systematic and analytic method of problem solving to make technical decisions that are safe, functional and validated.
  • Building proof of concepts, simulations and delivering prototypes, collaborating with stakeholders’ by selecting components, procuring and hands on assembly
  • Develop and execute design verification and validation test plan to ensure prototype meets design requirements and specifications
  • Support the development process by collecting feedback/ data for design improvement and enhancement from customer engineering.


Job Requirements




  • Degree in Electrical/ Electronic/ Mechatronic Engineering 




  • Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience in Electrical, Electronic or Automation Control Engineering in R&D/ engineering team




  • Experience from Port/Crane/Cargo industries is an added advantage. Hands-on automation projects are preferable.
  • Applied electrical engineering and good design practice
  • Electrical drawing creation, cabinet layout and component sizing/selection. E-Plan engineering software experience preferred.
  • PLC programming experience is an added advantage. Codesys and/or Structured Text based systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives, PLC, I/O modules, sensors, cables/connectors, motor and actuators
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as CANBUS, ASI, RS845 and data mapping
  • Well acquainted with simulation and testing
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability
  • Cost estimation and technical reporting
