R&D Control System Software Developer


Bromma is the industry's most experienced spreader manufacturer, known worldwide for crane spreaders of exceptional reliability. In all, more than 14,000 crane spreaders and rotators have been put into service since the 1960's.Today, Bromma manufactures close to 2,000 spreaders of all types per year. Purpose of the position


Bromma is now searching for a Control System Software developer to our office in Kista (Stockholm), Sweden. You will report to Manager, R&D Control Systems Sweden.
You will work in close cooperation with the Bromma R&D team, Bromma and Cargotec employees, other internal stakeholders and external vendors.

The purpose of the position is to develop and maintain Bromma’s onboard software platforms.  This includes machine control software on our distributed control systems and also onboard diagnostics and software to our onboard UI units. 

The software on Bromma’s spreaders is a key component in Bromma’s digitalization strategy and serves as a backbone to our cloud services which we believe will grow dramatically in the near future. We expect you to be a creative person with visions and ability to see new possibilities in order to improve our system to new levels. You will work closely with our cloud software, mechanical engineers in Kista Sweden, Singapore, as well as in Ipoh Malaysia. An ability to look beyond your own part in the organization and see the customer’s needs as well as understanding the different functions within Bromma’s organization is essential for this position. You will work with interesting and challenging technology and in an inspiring international atmosphere.  In this role you have the possibility to work with a lot of different technologies. 


To succeed in this role you ideally have:

- Good knowledge and experience in C or C++. We use CoDeSys and the language ST for machine control programming.
- Experience of machine control programming and software development for distributed control systems.
- Knowledge of fieldbus protocols, preferably CANopen or other CAN based protocols.
- Good knowledge about sensors and actuators.
- M.Sc (Eng.) or B.Sc in Software/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
- Good communication skills in English, speaking and writing
- Ability to travel occasionally
- Good social ability, as working with the rest of the organization and directly towards our customers is essential to your success.
